Why
I started sending little drawings with my daughter's "sleeping buddy" (a toy for naptime) to preschool (2001) for her to discover and remember that I loved her. I drew instead of writing a note because she couldn't read yet.
Eventually, the little drawings went in her lunch. I'm not sure when I stopped, probably around late middle school, but I have hundreds of these notes.
When her brother came along 18 years after her, I continued the tradition. I liked knowing that at least once a day, my kids were reminded of our bond, my love for them, and how much we laugh together. Plus I like a little weird everyday.
